SummerProperties is a free software tool that adds a new feature to Microsoft Windows - the ability to calculate and display the checksums for any file using four different algorithms: CRC16, CRC32, MD5, and SHA1. The program inserts a new tab on the file's properties window, where you can find all the checksum information.
SummerProperties comes with hardly any user interface of its own. The outcome of the program's functionality is displayed in that new tab in the file's properties window. There, however, you have a button that allows you to open a small configuration interface. In this window, you can select which algorithms to use for calculating and displaying the checksums. You can choose all or any of the four types mentioned above. Here you can also decide if you want the results to be displayed using upper case hexadecimal digits and to be divided into "words", for easier reading.
Since SummerProperties is in fact open source, you have also access to the source code (which you have to download separately). The latest version of this program has been modified to incorporate compatibility for Windows Vista systems.
If you simply need to display the checksums for any file according to any of the compatible algorithms, this program is just perfect for that.
